The project is designed as a means to elevate the standards of services provided by any business where there is direct communication with the clients, through various educational and training materials and a series of tools that will not only create new professional behaviors but will also change inappropriate attitudes in regards to customer relationships. The instruments developed within the project represent a modality of gaining new knowledge and practical abilities that will lead to an improvement of specific competences in communication, therefore a higher standard and business performance.

The Communication Management in Tourism project is the result of an Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership. The project has been developed by 5 partner entities located in Romania, Cyprus and Italy and it`s purpose is to improve and optimize the communication skills and techniques of people working in the Tourism/ HoReCa industries.

In the fast paced world of today, high standard professional development cannot happen without continuous formation and permanent up to date information on theoretical novelties and innovative strategies and practices.

In order to rise to the high expectations and demands of today, staff working in tourism services must be trained to improve their capacity to elaborate and implement personalized approaches in their day to day interaction with clients.

A brief analysis of the discussions with partner organizations, interviews with direct beneficiaries and relevant stakeholders has revealed that there is unanimity in the belief that the opportunities for continuum training and educational resources that provide practical suggestions for the development of specific communication skills are extremely scarce if any. The biggest issue that was mentioned across all discussions regarded the communication between staff and clients, particularly clients with disabilities or belonging to different ethnic groups.

Social integration of people with disabilities is a major issue for the European society today. Around 15 million people have special educational needs according to a report compiled for the European Commission by the independent network of experts in social siences and education and training (NESSE).

The relevancy of the project is increased due to the fact that it`s aiming to develop new instruments and methods in the field of communication as well as behavioral education for staff that comes in direct contact with the clients, including people with disabilities and diverse ethnicities, backgrounds orreligions.

The project brings together a well balanced mixture of partners coming from different cultures but using similar methods and strategies in order to deliver the IOs that aim at developing skills, developing awareness for the psychological mechanisms involved in human interaction, understanding and applying assertive behaviors, gaining knowledge on active listening, conflict resolution, cognitive and behavioral patterns, etc

The direct beneficiaries will gain new competences in the field of communication and behavioral education thus developing their abilities to provide indiscriminatory quality services for a wide array of customers, therefore bringing higher value to themselves and the organizations they are part of.
